The Shawn Marion Rally Monday July 11th

North Chicago, IL (June 29, 2011) – On Monday, July 11 Mayor Leon Rockingham, Jr. and the City of North Chicago are hosting a celebratory rally in honor of North Chicago’s own hometown hero, NBA Champion Shawn Marion of the Dallas Mavericks. The open-to-the public event will feature a show by local drill teams, drumlines, performers and special guests.
North Chicago native, Shawn Marion will receive a “Key to the City” from Mayor Rockingham and other awards and accolades from county and state representatives. The guest of honor attended A.J. Katzenmaier and Green Bay Elementary Schools. He will also receive recognition for his “giving back to the community” efforts as he kicks-off the 6th Annual Shawn Marion Basketball Camp that he offers free of charge to North Chicago youth.
The city invites all to attend this once in a lifetime event – The Shawn Marion Rally, Monday, July 11 – 4:00 p.m. at the North Chicago Community High School Gym, 1717 17th Street, North Chicago. Attendees will be admitted through gymnasium doors only and are welcome to bring signs, banners and other fanfare.
